Our oils have undergone microbiological tests and have NEVER been found to be contaminated with microorganisms.
The issue is not related to whether the oil is raw. Organisms like bacteria cannot grow in pure oil due to a lack of nutrient substrate. So the problem arises when oils are contaminated with other material including water, protein and liver tissue. That is why Rosita has amazing procedures to ensure that material from the liver is separated from the liver oil very efficiently and as soon as possible (within 5-15 minutes for cod livers). The result is pure oil.
The same applies to Extra Virgin Olive Oils which are raw but again high quality oils do not have any problems with bacterial growth
